A Fine Mess Indeed (and a short story about cold feet)

Letting a stranger guest post for your BLOG is about as dumb as handing your mother a RED PEN and your high school journal. Sir Jonas apparently trusts me to make a fine mess of it, and I in turn trust that I won't linger long enough to finish all of the...ahem, yellow rum in his closet.

But before the closet, first a bath.

I'm really serious, this whole post - 100% of it, (maybe 80% or 50%) is being written from a hot undiluted bath. My note cards are watermarked and my face is full of mud. My feet were cold - that's why. I find it unbearable to write with cold feet. Cold feet and an empty stomach - totally unbearable. Now I'm sure Jonas is expecting me to write something clever or engaging or witty perhaps, but the fact of the matter is, I am none of those things. Nope. I'm not a story teller, an adjective or a verb.

I'm a poet,
and my name is akka b.

So...here it is.

The Artist Formerly Known as YELLOWMAN *
Mr. Wunderman,
Sir Jonas
or the Sky,

Yes, call him all those things,
as well as clouds that go by.

Clouds that go by,
but quick to respond

That's what his name means,
Mister-Wander-Beyond

* Yellow is Jonas' favored color at present, no one knows why, actually it is very probable that even he does not know why and it's also likely that in truth he despises the color, but for the sake of this post...let's just say he really likes it and leave it at that.

Note to self: Don't write posts from bathtubs at 3am on an empty stomach. At least not before having a little yellow rum.

Jonas - sorry about the botched up face. But I do appreciate you inviting me over to make a mess of things. XX and X.

Akka B,
I disagree.
Writing from your bathtub,
You create sweet wondrous gifts,
For Mister-Wander-Beyond,
And all of us,
Who love to step into
The silvery moonlight,
And loose ourselves in dancing
To the music of your words.

No one ever offers to make a mess of my blog. Fine and lovely, indeed. And not really at all messy.

Yellow is in my top two favorite primary colors.

The poem was sweet,
a lovely special treat.

A budding author named Jonas
surely will phone us

When he gets the news
He'll not have the blues

He'll be all mellow
Wearing a crown of yellow

He'll give us a shout
"Hey guys, my book's out!"

Okay...so y writing group would now ask me if I counted the meter on my poem...I did not. :(

Wunderman! What a great name! No wonder you have to be all around the planet! The Wondering Wanderer!
Your choice for a guest writter was impeccable! Even if her face was mudded.
As for ab. - Loved your JW's portrait! Cold feet - no way!
And, for the rest of us... as I pay attention to details, it turns out that some posts are dated tomorrow. So, see you then!

Oh Akka B. I followed you here, to read what you would write as a guest. So many times I have dropped in as a visitor at your Inn for Love Heart Drunkards like myself. Your art is wonderful: words, pictures, the fabulous, the real. Intoxicating in the beshht poshibubl way. . .hic!

As much of a poet as you are, and there is no doubt, your Self is just as charming as your words. I always love the bit of you that you add to your poetic expression - you share yourself and your tonal imagery all at once. Thanks for leading us here to see your latest appearance. xx Pinna

Haha I love it.

It flows on tangents the way my silly mind does.

Very nice Akka B! :)

please sir, i want more -- messiness. i love messiness. i do it so poorly.
and i love your realization of jonas' image - the lovely bubbles relieve the camera of its burden of inadequacy. those bubbles are there - they are beyond the camera's capabilities. thanks for bringing us along on your bubble bath, akka b! xoxo

this is off topic, but loved the intriguing and thoughtful comment that you left on my blog today.

I think you should get married. A novelist and a poet couple...make for messy dramatic poetry and beautiful children.

Dharma said...

...or messy poetic drama...i guess it depends on who wears the pants in the family or... who takes the longest baths. Kids still beautiful though.

I breathe a sigh of relief knowing there are so many mess mongers in the world. Or roughly 20 at least.

With the exception of DHARMA - who's primary interest seems to be beautiful children. ;)

Thank you all for your generous comments, poetry, a taste of your blogs ~ yum yum.

If you haven't hung out in Jonas' world yet...please have a look around, he's kind of great.

If you haven't hung out in my world yet, well, drinks are on the house...

LOL cutest poem ever!! Did you draw the drawing too?

akka said...

For better or worse I do all the drawings on my site, including this one here.

I'm no artist, but what I -AM- is way too impatient to wait for anyone to draw things for me.

So, there you have it. ;)
