Generation of swine ...

I was planning on never being topical, but ...

After spending three days away from television, newspapers and our blessed internet you can imagine my surprise when I snuck a peek at the bbc news website this afternoon and discovered that we are all about to succumb to the flavour of 2009 - Swine Flu.

Now, is there any point questioning the motives behind any popular news network in this century of fear? Of course not, everyone knows ... but still, that doesn't mean the morons aren't guilty of attempting to cause mass hysteria, and continuing to ram it down our throats even though we are all wise to their methods. Now that the risk of catching the dreaded lurgy from our good friends the birds has flown off, what better than a disease originating from that most disgusting and filthy beast the pig to really keep us on our toes and make us wish that we were back in the good old days of only having a crumbling economy to worry about.

From what I have read, there have been many genuine victims in Mexico, and I am not mocking the impact this has obviously had on many lives. But it was my initial concern, after reading about the deaths in Mexico, which prompted me to read the bbc's Swine Flu Q&A page, which was ... to say the least ... ridiculous.

Q. Is Swine Flu dangerous.
A. Yes. I mean no. Actually, we are not sure, but we certainly hope it is. We're still pissed that bird flu didn't wipe you all out.

Yeah, of course that wasn't the answer, but my answer and theirs contains the same amount of information. I finished reading the first ever bbc info-article on the subject of Swine Flu I'd ever felt the need to look at -  an article I felt compelled to read because of their headline story - and came away with less knowledge of the damn thing than before I had even heard of it.

I totally agree with you. It's all a bunch of media hype. They're taking the misfortunes of others and using it to make money...once again. You would think we would all be used to it by now and now fall for it!

I loved your note on my blog... Amazing, isn't it, the people who fall into our lives.

This morning I noticed that my son not only is "married" on facebook, but also joined the group, "swine flu survivors 2009"

I can't stop laughing about either.
