Had a good wander around by the river, camera in hand tonight. I wish they had left the tower illuminated by blue light, it gave evening strolls a surreal quality. Orange is fine though. Blue was just plain weirder and caused me to come up with all sorts of ideas for projects and amusements.
Again with editing today - came across a few passages I had written and barely read over, which was enjoyable because I couldn't recall them in much detail. My first novel had been read over too much ... ok, possibly there is never too-much reading to be done of your own work, especially when fine tuning, but I could recite pretty much the whole 98000-ish words and it is now utterly impossible to view it objectively. For the record, it's not up to much anyway, but that was the first novel out of the way at any rate.
I have a recurring fear of one day having a book published and then discovering that it has been given the ugliest, most awful cover I have seen. Or at least, one of the worst I have seen. But I think on balance I would have a published book with a terrible cover rather than not. But still ...
It's difficult not to imagine how you would like your book to look though, and considering the time and effort that goes into writing, having your own image on the cover doesn't seem much to ask does it? This is ridiculous, I know. I just like the idea of producing my own work, cover to cover. And of course, if I could draw as well ....
... but I can't.
anyway, a stop-motion experiment tonight ....
