about me

The point of this blog??? I've been writing novels ... the first one wasn't up to much but everyone told me they liked it. Ok, the second one, titled "Pomponne" got sent out to I-don't-know-how-many agents and publishers, but ... well, you can probably guess the rest. Working on a third book, almost done, and as a ... "filler" (not sure about the word "filler") I am here, keeping my mind from bursting I suppose. This is neither the daily account of a struggling writer, nor a serialized version of my book, but there is a lot of stuff on here which captures the tone and atmosphere of this "third book"*

Some of the posts are stories in their own right, some of them may go on for two or three posts, which is a problem I guess if you have just arrived because they are going to appear in reverse order. No worries ... any multiple-part posts should have links at the beginning and end of them ... that's the plan anyway. A couple of good starting points, (to introduce a few people involved in many of these posts) can be found here and here ... and here ... and here too.

Thanks in advance for any comments you care to leave ... they are all appreciated (don't hold back though.)

I forgot the "about me" part ... well, I stay alive by drinking red wine and rum, and eating food bought with money I earn by taking photos ... which is all wrong, that wasn't the way it was supposed to happen. Why is it so difficult to make a living as a writer? It's so much easier ... you don't even need to get out of bed anymore**

thanks for dropping by

* I'm stressing over the title of this one.
** This is a joke, but true nonetheless.

Now, this 'leave a message' message I love!

I empathise with your writing angst. For the first time, mine is with a publisher who says a) he's read it and liked it, b) he's discussed it at an editorial meeting and c) he's passing it on to his editorial partner. But he's crafting his words carefully and I still get the feeling it may all bomb. *Sighs*

I can see how you make money with your photos, they are so beautiful. I have always loved Italy and have had many dreams of eventually making it there ONE day! But I see that your heart is really in your writings! You truly put your heart in it... I've always wished that I could express what was in my heart as well as you do. That is such a gift.

Hi - regarding what to title the third book - I like your one-word titles like "Pomponne."
I know you can come up with a great one word title.
Laurie ;-)

I think this is the best "about me" page I have read...
